CHINICT – happening next week
CHINICT - The largest conference on Chinese technology innovation and entrepreneurship is taking place next week on the 27th and 28th of May. This would be the 6th consecutive time and for the first time, it will be streaming live on Techcrunch.com.
China is now set to become the next Silicon Valley, a bigger one. CHINICT president - Franck Nazikian pointed out two points why the world should be watching China with respect to tech innovation.
- the 3rd biggest market cap in Internet business is a Chinese company - Tencent - which makes its bulk of revenue from selling virtual goods, something that no other Western company has yet accomplished.
- Silicon Valley company MochiMedia was sold to Shanda, when it could have been sold to other US companies including Google, because the former CEO wants to understand the Chinese market better in order to start his new venture. This shows that China is more attractive than the west to entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.
Here are a few familiar names speaking at the event that I am sure we would be interested to hear
- Steve Zheng - Tencent(China's largest Internet portal) Chief Software Architect, Head of R&D
- Cheng Binhao - Kaixin001(China fastest and largest SNS) Co-founder & CEO
- Chen Yu - Yeepay(ultimate China online payment solution comapny) Co-founder & Vice President
- Greg Shea - Blackberry(Turning the world famous phones into China leading brand) Head of China
- Fritz Demopoulos - Qunar(China's largest travel portal) Founder & CEO

CHINICT is actually a combination of ‘CHIN’ and ‘ICT’, which CHIN is the short for ‘China’ and ICT is standing for ‘Information and Communication Technology’.
